Sufjan Stevens – The Age of Adz – Full Album

Sufjan Steven’s new album, The Age of Adz, comes out on October 12th, but the whole album has been leaked online already.  It’s a different, but welcome, new sound for him.  I wonder if, when he looks back on this album, if he will consider it his “experimental” album.  He definitely is working with new sounds and technology for him.  Normally, you would hear Sufjan and a guitar and not much else.  There is a lot of electronic “chaos” in some of these songs, but it works.  I’ve said it before, and I will say it again, the production reminds me of something you would hear from Bjork.  In fact, I think it could be really cool is she were to cover one of these songs.  The opening song on the album, “Futile Devices”, is the most quite beautiful, but a little too short and has you reaching for the rewind button to hear it again.  Now, on the flip side of that, the final song on the album is a 25 minute chaotic opus that sounds dreamlike or slightly schizophonic.
